About Richard
Leadership learned in the field, taught for the real world.
Richard Dennis Mays spent decades where leadership is tested: as a leadership instructor at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, a leadership trainer for FEMA, and a U.S. Army weapons instructor. Along the way he trained
thousands of military and civilian professionals.
That experience taught him one truth — effective leadership isn’t defined by rank or position. It starts with how a person thinks, decides, and inspires others. It’s the idea behind his book, and the mindset behind everything he teaches.
